Mother and Father Long Verses

Never Forget

We sat beside your bedside
Our hearts were crushed and sore
We caringly loved you till the end
Till we could do no more

In tears we watched you sinking
We watched you fade away
And though our hearts were breaking
We knew you could not stay

You left behind our aching hearts
That loved you most sincere
We never shall and never will
Forget you, Mother/Father dear

Beautiful things

Beautiful things in this life
Are manifold it’s true
We count the stars by thousands
The birds and flowers too

The sunsets and dawning’s
Rare beauties far and near
But all the wide world over
There’s just one Mother/Father dear

Forever My Mam

She’s the whisper of the leaves, as you
walk down the street. She’s the smell
of certain foods, you remember.
Flowers you pick, the fragrance of life
itself. She’s the cool hand on your brow
when you’re not feeling well. She’s your
breath in the air, on a cold winter’s day.

She is the sound of the rain, that lulls
you to sleep. The colours of a rainbow,
she is Christmas morning. Your mother
lives inside your laughter. She’s the
place you came from, your first home.

She’s the map you follow with every
step you take. She is your first love,
your first friend, even your first enemy.
But nothing on earth can separate you,
not time, not space, not even death.

Mother

Although you cannot hear her voice
Or see her smile no more
Your mother walks beside you
Still just as she did before

She listens to your stories
And she wipes away your tears
She wraps her arms around you
And she understands your fears

It’s just she isn’t visible to see with
Human eye but talk to her in silence
And her spirit will reply

You’ll feel the love she has for you
You’ll hear her in your heart
She’s left her human body
But your souls will never part

Loving Dad

If I could write a story
It would be the greatest ever told
Of a kind and loving Dad
Who had a heart of gold

I could write a million pages
But still be unable to say
Just how much I love and miss him
Every single day

I will remember all he taught me
I’m hurt but won’t be sad because
He’ll send me down the answers
He’ll always be my Dad

Dad

Dad, our sadness knows no end
We can’t believe you’re gone
We’re grieving for you every day
It’s hard to carry on
You were always there to support and care
When we needed a true friend
How we’ll ever do without our dad
We cannot comprehend

You were our teacher and our guide
Our dad, so good and strong
Your example will sustain us now
And last our whole lives long
We’re trying to communicate
We hope that you can hear
Expressing what we feel for you
Helps us feel you’re near

Our memories of the times we had
Help the pain to go away
But Dad, our lives won’t be the same
We’ll miss you every day
A part of us went with you
You left a gap too big to fill
You’re our father and our hero
We love you and we always will

Daddy In heaven

Behind the Gates of Heaven
There’s someone special there
A loving gentle Daddy
Who always loved to care

Look around your garden Lord
For a man with a smile
That’s my precious Daddy, Lord
He must stand out a mile

Hold him in your arms Lord
And treasure him with care
For you have in your possession
A Dad beyond compare

Amazing Mam/Dad

The angels sang Amazing Grace
Our Lord came down
And touched your face

He held your hand and whispered low
Come with me, now it’s time to go
The gates of heaven opened wide

The angels lined up side by side
For a special guest was on her/his way
The day you took our Mam/Dad away

The Farmer

Our father was a farmer
His heart was in the soil
It’s there he found his solace
Among the grimy toil
He planted the seed in springtime
The spuds, the carrots and hay

He prayed that God would bless them
A harvest, Lord, he prayed
He tilled and cultivated them
Provided the most tender care
Believed that come October
He’d reap a harvest fair

Blue skies were his cathedral
A tractor, his altar of prayer
God met him in the hayfields
They had communion there

The values that nature taught him
He handed down with care
He did so much for all of us
A Dad beyond compare

The Promise

It’s so strange that those in need
And those we love the best
Are just the ones God called away
And took them home to rest

But every time I think of Mam/Dad
I seem to hear God say
Have faith and trust my Promise
You’ll meet again some day

Mam

Your vacant place no one can fill
We miss you Mam and always will
We prayed for a miracle all in vain
That God would make you well again
But God knew best, we had to part

It eased your pain but broke our hearts
You may be out of sight
We may be worlds apart
But you are always in our prayers
And forever in our hearts

Message for Dad

Please God forgive a silent tear
A fervent wish our Dad was here
There are others, yes we know
But he was ours and we loved him so

Dear God, please take a message
To our father in Heaven above
Tell him how much we miss him
And give him all our love

The best Dad

If we had all the world to give
We’d give it, yes, and more
To hear his voice, to see his smile
And greet him at the door

But all we can do dear Dad
Is go and tend your grave
And leave behind tokens of love
To the best Dad that God ever made

My wish

Things I feel most deeply
Are the hardest things to say
Dear Mam, I loved you always
In my own very special way

If I could have one lifetime wish
One dream that could come true
I’d pray to God with all my heart
Someday I’ll be with you

Loving Mam

You can only have one mother
Patient, kind and true
No other friends in all the world
Will be the same to you

When other friends forsake you
To mam you will return
For all her loving kindness
She asks nothing in return

As we look upon her picture
Sweet memories we recall
Of the face so full of sunshine
And smile for one and all

Sweet Jesus take this message
To our dear Mother up above
Tell her how we miss her
And give her all our love

Forever in our hearts

We hold you close within our hearts
And there you shall remain
To walk with us throughout our lives
until we meet again

So rest in peace dear Mammy/Daddy
And thanks for all you’ve done
We pray that God has given you
The crown you’ve truly won

Love

I can’t repay the lessons
That you taught when I was small
Or give you the precious gift
Of the daily treasures I recall

I can’t return encouragement
And loving words of praise
In quiet the way you did for me
Throughout my childhood days

But there is one gift that I can give
It’s all the love you earned
For love is what you always taught
And love is what I learned

Gates of Heaven

Behind the Gates of Heaven
There’s someone special there
A loving gentle Father
Who always used to care

Look around your garden Lord
For a man with a smile
That’s my precious Father, Lord
He must stand out a mile

Hold him in your arms Lord
And treasure him with care
For you have in your possession
A father beyond compare

A reunion in Heaven

A reunion occurred in heaven this year
Of the sweetest and most joyful kind
As Mam’s spirit moved beyond this earth
Released from her mortal life

And what a reunion it must have been
A joy beyond our conceiving
When Mam met Dad in heaven again
Ending her dignified grieving

We are certain Dad is still holding Mam’s hand
While she cherishes each moment by his side
And they are delighted to be together again
Catching up on the time they were denied

We are confident they are also looking over us
Hoping this happiness will lessen our pain
As we contemplate the joy they finally feel
Now that they are together again

And though we’ll miss them terribly
And will long for them with deepest grief
We know that love is more powerful than death
And this gives us comfort and peace

One Mother

You can only have one mother
Patient, kind and true
No other friends in all the world
Will be the same to you

When other friends forsake you
To Mam you will return
For all her loving kindness
She asks nothing in return

As we look upon her picture
Sweet memories we recall
Of the face so full of sunshine
And smile for one and all

Sweet Jesus take this message
To our dear Mother up above
Tell her how we miss her
And give her all our love

The greatest gift of all

When God was making Mothers
He must have made a fuss
He spent a lot of time on one
And gave that one to us

Of all the gifts in life
However great or small
To have you as our mother
Was the greatest gift of all

Because you were so special
No words could ever say
How much we love and miss you
Today and every day
